In this crazy, chaotic world finding true peace is so rare most don’t even know what that phrase means. What is true peace? Is it a feeling when you finally get a little quiet in your life? When the cellphone, messages, emails, text — everything stops beeping at you? Do we even remember true peace anymore?
True peace is not merely the absence of chaos. It is letting go of all the static and the anxiety. It is letting go of the worry and the things you really have no control over.
Yeah, sounds great. How?
The first thing you have to do is make sure that you have your ducks in a row. Calmly, logically and simply figure out everything that you can possibly do about the situation. Prioritize the list of fixes you need to make and start to work! While you are working you need to start part two.
The second part is to pray. Do not pray for the outcome you want, pray for the outcome that is best for you. This way you focus on God’s will not yours. God can do anything. He will always do is what’s best for you. Therefore, just let Him handle it. This does two things.
First of all, worrying, brooding, and stressing out helps nothing. If there is nothing you can do about it, then there is nothing you can do about it. Secondly, it removes the concern for the outcome. If you know what will happen will work out for the best for you then you are not concerned if the end result goes a certain way or not.
1. Make a list, prioritize and get busy.
2. Pray that God’s will be done.
3. Let it go.
I know that “Let go, let God” is a cliché that everyone is tired of hearing but it is a cliché for a reason. It’s true. Now…
Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Deep breath in. Deep breath out. “God, I give this to you.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. “Help me to let it go.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. “I let it go because I trust you.” Deep breath in. Deep breath out. “Amen.”
Peace be with you.
